An individual who laced sweets with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer program in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two children who were nine and ten years old.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and an older person fell ill at the location in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.
The man engaged in a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She stated the man had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "This year his stepson had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC said objects including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She stated the defendant proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six children that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"The police had not arrived by that point," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
The legal representative said the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the stepson notified the police again.
She explained the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
