'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the dramatic final moments of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range effort from distance, and the defender quickly converted the deflection before sprinting toward the home end to revel in the moment, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory sealed an unbelievable turnaround given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 during the latter period. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win secured a fourth-round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after they changed tactics. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the opposition who complimented the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then without warning they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It takes a tough attitude and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at his former club and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At the London club he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford City, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that maturation for club and country, excelling for his national side, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including home and away encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This marks quite the ride for the kid from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his dad, his father, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's sole appearance for United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was shut owing to the weather of bitter cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was chilly," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it got to the point where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, another squad member, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to interact with the guys but I'm planning to be the next one out of the minibus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on public transport after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
